Cultural Excursion Days: Shanghai Museums Edition!

I’ve never been a fan of drab museums with pictures and exhibits that people have to explain.  If it’s good art, it’ll stand up on its own! I’m glad to say that these places were not what I was expecting and a lot more than I asked for ~>

Chinese Spring Festival, The Cultural Excursion Days!

In the West, we often hear about the Chinese Spring Festival and equate it with our New Years celebration, because of the timing.  I can safely say that the Spring Festival is far, far more intense and involving that any holiday we have in the USA.  The best part is that most Chinese companies and businesses give everyone a 2-4 week vacation!  I spent my time having extended Cultural Excursion Days and exploring China.   Here are a few samples of where I went and what I did, enjoy! ->

Fiji, A Cultural Excursion Vacation.

BULA! It means “Hello”, “Welcome”, and quite a bit more.  It’s always be the first thing you hear from anyone in Fiji, it’s a timeless greeting that conveyed the spirit of their islands to me!

Cultural Excursion Day is a concept I came up with in my travels.  No matter where I am in the world, I try to take a few days every month to do things there that can’t be done anywhere else in the world.  The goal is to expose myself to cultures, activities, and people who I ordinarily wouldn’t be able to because they are unique to where I am living at the time.  I go out to take part in something special to that part of the world. Being able to step into other cultures, and learn how they life is a crucial Life Skill. Here is one of my favorite adventures.

Native American Heritage, A Cultural Excursion Day.

The Lost City Museum of Archaeology in Overton, Nevada sponsors Native American Heritage Day. I spent the day there watching traditional dances, enjoying live flute songs, and even more importantly hearing about things that plague Native American life as well as what they are doing as a community to improve their standing as a community and as a people.
